«Krieg, Liebe und Reue: David e Bersabea» - Erasmus Klingt Festival

Nicola Porpora: «David e Bersabea» (Oratorio, first created in London in 1734),

Orchester, Solists and Choir with students and professors of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.

Staging and direction Deda Cristina Colonna

The oratorio tells the story from the Old Testament in which King David manipulates the course of the war in order to win the love of Bersabea and ultimately repents of his actions as he strives for forgiveness and peace. Despite its biblical inspiration, the work contains many elements that resemble a secular opera.
